چکیده

Recent studies have shown the X-bar control chart with variable sampling interval detects shifts in the process mean faster than the traditional X-bar chart. These studies are usually based on the assumption that the process data are independently and normally distributed. However, many situations in practice violate these assumptions. In this study, a methodology is developed to economically design a variable sampling interval X-bar control chart that takes into consideration correlated non-normal sample data. An example is provided to illustrate the solution procedure. A sensitivity analysis on the input parameters (i.e., the cost and the process parameters) is performed taking into account the non-normality and the correlation on the optimal design of the chart.

A Parameter-Tuned Genetic Algorithm for Economic-Statistical Design of Variable Sampling Interval X-Bar Control Charts for Non-Normal Correlated Samples

Among innovations and improvements occurred in the past two decades on the techniques and tools used for statistical process control (SPC), adaptive control charts have shown to substantially improve the statistical and/or economical performances. Variable sampling intervals (VSI) control charts are one of the most applied types of the adaptive control charts and have shown to be faster than tr...

Economic statistical design for x-bar control charts under non-normal distributed data with Weibull in-control time

This paper proposes an approach which simultaneously considers the properties of cost and quality based on the Burr distribution to determine three parameters (including sample size, sampling interval between successive samples, and the control limits) when an x-bar chart monitors a manufacturing process with Weibull failure characteristic and non-normal data. Also, the cost model of Banerjee a...

Economic Statistical Design of a Three-Level Control Chart with VSI Scheme

Traditionally, the statistical quality control techniques utilize either an attributes or variables product quality measure. Recently, some methods such as three-level control chart have been developed for monitoring multi attribute processes. Control chart usually has three design parameters: the sample size (n), the sampling interval (h) and the control limit coefficient (k).The design parame...

Economic-statistical Design of NP Control Chart with Variable Sample Size and Sampling Interval

The control charts are graphical tools and proven techniques to improve the performance of a process. Usually, the processes are not naturally controlled, so the use of control charts will help to reduce the variability and increase the stability of the process. In the traditional approach, control charts with fix sample size and constant sampling intervals were used to identify the changes in ...

Monitoring autocorrelated processes using variable sampling schemes at fixed-times

Traditional control charts for process monitoring are based on taking samples of fixed size from the process using a fixed sampling interval. A recent development in control charts is the use of adaptive control charts, i.e. the variable sampling interval (VSI) and variable sampling size charts. This paper extends this idea to the autocorrelated process. We consider a time series model which is...
